I would love a poem –
A poem that croons
And beckons me
To a sweeter, gentler,
More convenient place than
The one I daily inhabit.
Her voice will be
Unrestrained and irresistible.
Even my mind – a mind that doggedly
Resists contentment
Will acknowledge the
Supremacy of her call;
And will trot dutifully
To her side to
Sit placidly in her lap,
And nod off in such sweet repose.
