We’re All Alcoholics Now

We’re all alcoholics now.

Tipplers, sots, and lushes,

Addicted to a white lightning.

After having savored it a few times,

We come to know that

We will never be able to restrain ourselves

And abstain from this intoxication.

No, not for the rest of our lives!

No, we’ll spend our waking moments

Lusting for the time

We can seize our glass

And down a shot.

And then another. . .

And another.

But what sweet inebriation this is!

With this vintage,

Our livers grow stronger!

And when we inevitably throw up,

Wisdom gushes into the streets.

Do you see how we alarm the world

When we weep in public?

If only they knew

That these tears run with joy.

Now that’s some booze!

Cheers!
